CROWLEY AMERICAN TRANSPORT ADDS INTERNET B/L CAPABILITY
Crowley American Transport is the latest ocean carrier to have introduced Internet bills of lading.
The carrier said that it has expanded its electronic services to allow customers to review, approve and print out bills of lading in their own offices, via the Internet.
In the past, only a few large shippers that had electronic data interchange links with Crowley American Transport could print out this information, the company said.
The carrier said that several hundred of its customers now receive monthly sailing schedules for the company’s U.S./South American services as an electronic e-mail attached file.
Crowley American Transport, based in Jacksonville, Fla., is part of the Hamburg-Sud group.
