TRAC offers chassis in South Atlantic
TRAC Intermodal said it would expand its TRAC Connect product to the South Atlantic Chassis Pool for use by motor carriers servicing CMA CGM.
TRAC said it has been working with CMA CGM to develop an effective strategy to supply truckers directly with chassis for the pick-up and delivery of CMA CGM loads. TRAC Connect is a Web-based marketplace designed to provide chassis rental, leasing and related services to the intermodal drayage community for marine chassis needed on a short to medium-term basis.
TRAC Connect operates in New York-New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Buffalo, Savannah, Charleston, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Mobile, Tampa, Los Angeles and Oakland. TRAC Connect will start up operations in Houston and Dallas on Jan. 17; Chicago, the Ohio Valley and other Midwest cities starting in February; other West Coast cities in March; and Norfolk this summer.
In its Jan. 12 customer newsletter, CMA CGM said it is continuing to roll out its new chassis policy, first announced last year, whereby truckers will be required to either supply their own chassis or to have an agreement with chassis leasing companies according to the following schedule:
' Jan. 10 ' Jacksonville, Charleston, Savannah.
' Jan. 17 ' New York, Houston and Dallas.
' Feb. 1 ' Memphis, Nashville, Kansas City, St Louis Chicago, Detroit, Ohio Valley, and all Eastern inland point intermodal locations.
' March 1 ' Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle and the West Coast, including Western rail IPI locations.
