HEAVYLIFT ADDS TWO MORE ANTONOVS TO FLEET
The joint venture all-cargo operation of British cargo carrier Heavylift
Cargo Airlines and Russian airline Volga-Dnepr has added two more Antonov-124 freighters
to its fleet of seven.
Heavylift-VolgaDnepr said strong demand for outsized air freight lift led it to
obtain the two additional An-124s, which are operated by a crew of 18 to 20 pilots and
mechanics and can carry more than 120 metric tons of cargo. The An-124 is the largest
freighter aircraft in world.
Heavylift-VolgaDnepr mainly serves companies in the aerospace, aircraft manufacturing,
oil, gas, automotive and construction industries.
An-124s also play a primary role in delivering emergency aid around the world.
Heavylift-VolgaDnepr was launched with a single An-124 in 1991.
