Swire starts transpacific multipurpose service
Swire Shipping said Friday it is launching a transpacific multipurpose and container service.
The monthly-frequency operation, called “Indotrans Asia,” will link ports in Southeast Asia, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands to Los Angeles, Oakland and the Canadian port of Vancouver.
The service will operate three sister vessels, the “Pacific Adventurer,” “Pacific Explorer” and “Pacific Voyager,” which each have a deadweight of 23,737 tons, geared ‘tweendeckers with an 18.5-knot service speed.
“The vessels are designed to carry dry containers, reefers, conventional/breakbulk, heavy lift and project cargoes,” Swire said.
The “Pacific Explorer” will commence the service from Singapore in early March.
