TRANS-PACIFIC LINES ADDS SHANGHAI, BIGGER SHIPS
From next month, Hong Kong-based Trans-Pacific Lines is adding a direct call at Shanghai on its weekly transpacific service.
The vessel “TPL Discovery” will make the first sailing from the Chinese port after it arrives on June 17. The revised port rotation for the service is Los Angeles, San Francisco, Xiamen, Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The carrier has also phased in five faster 2,500-TEU ships to replace six ships of 1,700-TEUs on the service, providing an extra 42,000-TEUs in annual one-way capacity.
A spokesman for Trans-Pacific Lines said that an additional call at Oakland is still under review.
