Unifor ratifies labor contracts at CN

Union members in its four bargaining units at the railway agreed to new 51-month deals.

Members of the Unifor union have ratified new labor agreements with Canadian National Railway, according to a statement from the company.
Unifor represents 4,800 CN employees in four bargaining units at CN – clerical/intermodal, mechanical, CNTL truck owner-operators, and excavator-operators – and all four agreed to deals of 51 months.
Further details of the agreements were not disclosed, but the railway said the contracts “provide wage and benefit improvements and revise work rules to improve service and productivity.”
“We are pleased to see the ratification of these labour agreements by Unifor members,” said Jim Vena, CN executive vice-president and COO. “The deals were amicably negotiated and are good for CN and its employees.”
