Samskip finalizes reefer acquisition

The multi-modal container transport and logistics company has expanded in the reefer business with its Samskip Logistics unit acquiring a half interest in Bergen, Norway-based Silver Sea, formerly known as Silver Green.

   Rotterdam based multi-modal container transport and logistics company Samskip said it has expanded in the reefer business with its Samskip Logistics unit acquiring a half interest in Bergen, Norway-based Silver Sea, formerly known as Silver Green.
   Samskip has been an investor in the business under a different arrangement since 2002.
   Silver Sea operates a fleet of 14 reefer ships and is a leader in the transport of frozen fish, primarily within Europe.
   The other half of Silver Sea is owned by its chief executive officer, Tormod Fossmark, through his company Silver Invest.
   Samskip Logistics has also purchased five reefer ships and chartered two during the past year that are now part of the Silver Sea fleet.
