U.S. FAA FINES WAL-MART FOR HAZMAT VIOLATIONS
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has proposed to fine Wal-Mart
Stores Inc. $50,000 for improperly shipping hazardous materials by air.
Wal-Mart allegedly offered a shipment of fire extinguishers to Airborne
Express that were improperly marked and prepared for transport from Hermiston, Ore., to
Seymour, Ind.
The FAA also proposed fines of $55,000 to Sears, Roebuck and Co. $55,000 and
$68,000 to Trans States Airlines Inc. for alleged hazmat violations on air shipments.
