CUSTOMS COBRA FEES COMMITTEE MEETING RESCHEDULED

   The U.S. Customs Service has rescheduled an advisory meeting on inspection services to take place on July 15.

   The first meeting of the agency’s COBRA Fees Advisory Committee (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) was scheduled for June 28. The committee will advise the commissioner on issues relating to inspection services performed by the agency, including issues pertaining to the time periods during which inspections should be performed, fees on cargo and the deployment of inspection officers.

   Among those in attendance will be Douglas M. Browning, deputy commissioner of the U.S. Customs Service, and committee members Kathy Hansen of Con-Way Transportation Services Inc., Benson Bowditch of Lykes Brothers Steamship Co., and Joseph Mangiaracino of Union Pacific Railroad.

   The meeting will take place from 1-3 p.m. in room 6.4-B of the Ronald Reagan Building, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. Those interested in attending the meeting should contact Carlene Warren of Customs’ Office of Field Operations, (202) 927-1391, by July 11.
