BAX GLOBAL EXPANDS OCEAN FREIGHT SERVICES

BAX Global, an international transportation logistics provider, is expanding its ocean freight services.

The company has set up a toll-free telephone number to allow shippers to contact BAX customer service with ocean export and import problems and questions. The number also provides access to BAX’s oversized/break-bulk projects division.

BAX has also started weekly less-than-containerload service to seven Latin American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama and Venezuela. The service leaves Miami on Fridays allowing for weekend sailing and deliveries on Monday.

'This service is just the first step in an ongoing effort to expand BAX Global’s ocean services,' said Peter Gruettner, vice president of ocean services at BAX. 'One of our next steps will be to add LCL consolidations to the remaining Central American countries.'

The company also appointed four new regional directors to oversee sales and operations of its ocean services. They are Gerd Loof in Chicago covering the Midwest; Per Ralamb in Newark, N.J. covering the East Coast; Allan Farbstein in San Francisco covering the West Coast; and Mike Vanderhoff in Atlanta covering the South.

BAX, a $2.1 billion subsidiary of Pittston, has 500 offices worldwide.
