ECS SUSPENDS NEW-CONCEPT ASIA-EUROPE LINER SERVICE
Express Container Service, the German niche carrier, has suspended its weekly service between Asia and the Mediterranean.
The operator had offered an innovative, fast transit-time service between Hong Kong, China and southern Europe based on the airline model of express premium-rate shipments.
ECS said that it is stopping the operation because of “technical problems” on its 1,400-TEU ships.
Werner Pinnow, managing director of Express Container Service, said that the service would resume in one or two months’ time, probably in cooperation with another shipowner.
