House Transport Committee sets leadership
The powerful chairman of the House Transportation Committee, Don Young, R-Alaska, assigned subcommittee chairmanships Thursday to six members, including Rep. Steve LaTourette, R-Ohio, to head the Railroad Subcommittee.
Incumbent chairmen include Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., of the Aviation Subcommittee; Rep. Frank Lobiondo, R-N.J., of the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee; and Rep. Tom Petri, R-Wis., Highways, Transit and Pipelines.
Young is in his third term as Transportation chairman. He said his legislative priorities include passing a six-year highway and transit authorization bill, the Rail Infrastructure and Development Act and Coast Guard reauthorization.
