Logistics company began its first 53′ intermodal service between Chicago and Silao.
COFC Logistics, LLC introduced a new service providing 53’ intermodal capacity to Silao, Guanajuato in the Bajio region of Mexico. Available immediately, the service will utilize a joint BNSF and Ferromex rail line, connecting Chicago with Silao via El Paso with 6th morning availability.
In a press release, the company said the new service is in response to “the current high demand for transportation services between the US and Mexico.”
Gary Old, founder and president of COFC Logistics, said the new intermodal service will give customers additional opportunities for growth in the expanding Mexican market. “The advantages of the new service include lower cost than over-the-road trucking and 6th morning availability to meet single driver transit times,” Old said. “The centrally located Silao hub requires fewer dray miles in Mexico to and from key markets, and at the border. There are no border transfer or handling fees, and no cross-border trucking across congested highway bridges. Southbound shipments are pre-cleared, and move in-bond through the border and onto the Silao ramp to minimize customs clearance delays. Plus, northbound shipments are pre-cleared prior to departing Silao.”
