Bunker charges rise in several trades
Bunker adjustment factors will increase in March for most carriers operating in the Asia/Europe and Asia/New Zealand trades.
In the Asia/Europe trade, the Far Eastern Freight Conference carriers told shippers their bunker adjustment factor will rise to $84 per TEU for the period March 1-31, from $74 per TEU charge this month.
In the Asia/New Zealand trade, NYK Line said New Zealand shipments from all Far East origins will have a new “emergency bunker adjustment factor” of $150 per 20-foot and $300 per 40-foot container, effective Feb. 4, compared with $125 per 20-foot and $250 per 40-foot previously.
The same higher bunker charges will apply northbound from New Zealand, effective Feb. 13, said NYK.
