SOUTH CAROLINA STEVEDORE TAKES CASE TO FMC
Terminal operator and stevedoring firm Carolina Marine Handling Inc. has
filed a complaint with the Federal Maritime Commission alleging the South Carolina State
Ports Authority and the Charleston Naval Complex Redevelopment Authority violated a number
of 1984 Shipping Act laws.
The stevedoring firm claims it was unjustly evicted from a terminal and
then shut out of a bidding process for a long-term lease of the terminal,
located four miles north of the Port of Charleston.
CMH has asked for a public hearing before the FMC in Washington.
