Yang Ming charters four 11,000-TEU ships

The Taiwanese shipping company said it will have 14 new 11,000-TEU containerships that all are IMO 2020 compliant delivered between 2020 and 2022.

Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming announced it signed charter agreements for four 11,000-TEU containerships with Shoei Kisen Kaisa.
Details of the transaction were not released, but the vessels are expected to be delivered in the first three quarters of 2022. Yang Ming is set to have 14 newly built 11,000-TEU containerships during the years 2020 to 2022 that are all in compliance with the IMO 2020 regulation, the company said Thursday in a press release.
“These eco-type new newbuildings with modern designs will gradually replace some of Yang Ming’s high-cost, older ships,” it said in the statement.
Yang Ming, which reported a net loss of more than $200 million in 2018 despite an 8.2 percent increase in revenue, announced in March it had launched two 14,000-TEU ships.
