Johnston Logistics rebranding as Dachser Ireland

German logistics company Dachser says Ireland-based Johnston will be fully integrated into its network by September.

The German logistics company Dachser said it will rebrand Ireland-based Johnston Logistics Ltd. as Dachser Ireland Ltd. and fully integrate it into its network by September.
“Expanding its footprint into the Irish market further demonstrates Dachser’s commitment to growing its network and having a presence in key markets throughout the world,” the company said.
Dachser said it has partnered with Johnston Logistics since 2007 and in 2017 acquired a majority stake in the company.
“Since then the two companies have gradually become increasingly integrated,” it added.
“The rebranding makes the full integration of Johnston Logistics into the Dachser network visible to the outside world. At the same time, the connection to all our systems ensures that the Irish country organization is secure and stable for the future,” said Bernhard Simon (pictured above left), the chief executive officer of Dachser.
Dachser said its yellow and blue trucks are already on the road in Ireland and that “operational integration, including the migration to DOMINO and MIKADO, Dachser’s proprietary IT systems for transport and warehouse management, took place back in February.”
Albert Johnston (above center), managing director of Johnston Logistics, will become managing director of Dachser Ireland.
He noted both firms are family owned and said both “stand for the same values. And both sides contribute expertise that will ensure further growth — in both our domestic and our export business.”
Johnston Logistics was founded in 1979. In addition to its headquarters in Rathcoole near Dublin, it has locations in Cork in the south and in Limerick on the west coast of Ireland. It has warehouses with 20,000 pallet spaces and in 2018, the company transported about 346,000 shipments with 120 daily departures.
In addition to consolidation, Johnston said it specializes in dangerous goods transportation and warehousing services for customers in the chemical, pharmaceutical, hardware, plastics and packaging industries. The company currently has 175 employees.
Founded in 1930, Dachser is a much larger company with more than 30,000 employees in 399 sites around the world. In 2018 it had revenue of 5.6 billion euros. It moved over 88.7 million shipments.
