Truckload Carriers Association Scholarship Fund accepting applications through May 1

For nearly 50 years, the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) Scholarship Fund has been helping students with connections to the truckload industry.

The Fund awards up to $6,250 per year, per full-time college students. In the 2020-21 school year, the TCA Scholarship Fund’s Board of Trustees awarded more than 50 students totaling to more than $150,000.

Much of the program’s support comes from within the truckload family—companies and individuals who are committed to our community’s future.

The 2021-22 TCA Scholarship Fund online application will close Saturday, May 1, and is accessible through the TCA website here: www.truckload.org/scholarships

Any student in good standing (minimum grade point average of 3.0) who will be attending an accredited, four-year college or university as a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior and who is either the child, grandchild, or spouse of an employee or is an employee of a TCA member company or is the child, grandchild, or spouse of an independent contractor or an independent contractor affiliated with a TCA member company is encouraged to apply.

“The TCA scholarship was a massive assistance for me,” shared 2020-21 National Association of Independent Truckers (NAIT) Scholarship recipient, Graham Baner, who has ties to Nussbaum Transportation Services, Inc. based in Hudson, Illinois. “I was lucky to receive this gift and it has been an incredible load off of my shoulders. I would recommend anyone who is eligible for it, and has a passion for the pursuit of knowledge, to apply.” Baner received $6,250 and is studying supply chain management.

“College can be stressful enough, disregarding student loan debt,” shared Austin Wagner, TCA’s John Kaburick Scholarship recipient. “When you add that into the equation, students bear a heavy burden. Receiving a TCA scholarship this year has helped me to be at ease and allowed me to focus more intently on my schoolwork.” Wagner, who received $4,500, has ties to McLeod Software Corporation, Inc. based in Birmingham, Alabama, is studying marketing/entrepreneurial studies.

“The TCA scholarship has taken a significant weight off of my shoulders,” shared Darrel Clark Wilson III Scholarship recipient Benjamin Giesbrecht. “I was laid off for a long period of time during summer, which meant that I didn’t have the usual funds to pay for my schooling.” Giesbrecht, who has ties to Bison Transport based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, received $3,250. “I am forever grateful for the support from both Bison Transport and TCA that has helped me continue and finish my education.”
