New Perks program seeks to level the playing field for carriers

Larger fleets have traditionally had a pricing advantage when it comes fuel, tires and other items due to volumes, but a new program from J.B. Hunt Transport, The J.B. Hunt Perks 360, seeks to level the playing field for smaller fleets and owner-operators. ( Photo: Truckstockimages.com )

Adding fuel, maintenance and tire discounts to its Carrier 360 app with the new Perks program, J.B. Hunt is looking to give smaller fleets, owner-operators access to big-fleet advantages

It’s a fact of life that not all carriers are treated equally. Some receive deeply discounted products, such as tires and fuel, while others pay retail rates. If you are a small fleet or an owner-operator, discounted products are often just a dream.

Well, J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is out to prove that everyone should have an opportunity for discounts when it comes to the amenities you receive. The company has rolled out J.B. Hunt 360 Perks, a new program designed to help carriers benefit from rewards and discounts with SiriusXM, Pilot Flying J and the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The goal of the program is to open the door so carriers of any size, including single-truck owner-operators, can enjoy some of the perks normally reserved for only the largest operators.

Through the Perks program, carriers have the opportunity to receive discounts on fuel, tires, maintenance and SiriusXM radios for their drivers. Drivers can earn Pilot myRewards points and complimentary SiriusXM subscriptions by purchasing fuel through their carriers’ account. J.B. Hunt 360 Perks is accessible within Carrier 360 by J.B. Hunt, a digital component of its technology solution J.B. Hunt 360, designed to help carriers save money, spend more time driving and have an overall better experience.

“Our company drivers and independent contractors, including third-party carriers and owner-operators, are a large part of J.B. Hunt’s continued growth and success,” said John Roberts, president and CEO. “This program focuses on providing carriers and their drivers with great opportunities to succeed. J.B. Hunt 360 Perks brings together J.B. Hunt, a leader in the transportation industry, and three of the biggest names in their respective trades to create what we believe is the best and most comprehensive rewards program available. This program includes discounts on brands and services carriers use every day.”

It’s something I can do on the go, I can do from anywhere. Not only does that make me more efficient, but it also improves quality of life.

The Perks program builds upon the success and efforts of Carrier 360 to develop an easy-to-use, complimentary tool for carriers to use when executing their business strategies. Carrier 360 can utilize machine learning and artificial intelligence to provide load recommendations based on predicted location, historical lane data, service levels and personal settings. It offers customers and carriers freight matching capabilities and features that help automate and streamline day-to-day operations.

For some, Carrier 360 and the rewards program are driving efficiencies and savings never before seen. Monique Lane, dispatcher for Dash Express, explained that the platform helps with communicating to and updating drivers while also improving her own processes.

“It’s something I can do on the go, I can do from anywhere,” she said. “Not only does that make me more efficient, but it also improves quality of life.”

Using its machine learning capabilities, Carrier 360 will try to match a carrier’s lane preferences with available loads along that route and provides notifications and options for making offers when opportunities are available. For single-truck owner-operators like Juan Sanchez and Eddie Williams, the platform has opened doors to amenities drivers are looking for and provides more load opportunities through a traditional app experience.

“You have more access to more loads, so it doesn’t make sense not to have J.B. Hunt 360 in your toolbox,” Williams explained.

Under the Perks program, participants receive 18 cents off the credit price per gallon of diesel fuel purchased at participating Pilot and Flying J locations in the U.S. when using a J.B. Hunt 360 fuel card. Drivers for participating carriers receive two Pilot myRewards points for each gallon of fuel. There’s a big bonus for using the mobile version of the fuel card within Carrier 360. By using the app and a pre-activation code to complete the purchase, they receive an additional three myRewards points for each gallon, giving the driver up to five points for each gallon of fuel pumped.

SiriusXM, Pilot Flying J and Goodyear have integrated their respective incentives into Carrier 360, so all the information can be accessed from a single point. Carriers can apply for a J.B. Hunt 360 fuel card through Carrier 360, and once approved, begin receiving discounts on preventive maintenance, labor, parts and tires from Pilot Flying J Truck Care and discounts from Goodyear on products and services.

The benefits of using the J.B. Hunt 360 fuel card to purchase fuel at Pilot and Flying J locations extend beyond the truck as well. Drivers earn free Pilot Flying J Outdoor Enhanced Wi-Fi for 14 days after fueling 50 gallons of diesel in a single trip.

To help drivers enjoy the in-cab experience a little more, J.B. Hunt 360 Perks participants receive a complimentary All Access subscription to SiriusXM when they pump an average of 600 diesel gallons every 30 days at participating Pilot and Flying J locations in the U.S. To earn the free subscription, drivers simply input their Pilot myRewards number at the pump and use the J.B. Hunt 360 fuel card to purchase diesel fuel.

SiriusXM’s All Access subscription package includes over 150 channels plus streaming content and SiriusXM Video. Eligibility is maintained as long as drivers purchase a total of 600 gallons of fuel within a 30-day period and continue to average 600 gallons every 30 days thereafter (calculated on a rolling 30-, 60-, and 90-day basis). Additional SiriusXM products, such as radios and antennas, are available for carriers and drivers at a discount.

Finally, the program incorporates Goodyear and its national network of locations. Discounts on tires, retreads, tire-related services and special offers are available. Additional benefits will be available in the near future, J.B. Hunt said, including 24/7 Goodyear Fleet HQ Emergency Road Service numbers to call and access to a Goodyear dealer locator within Carrier 360.

Carrier 360 is a free download available in the iTunes and Google Play app stores. To learn more about the platform, visit JBHunt.com/Carrier360.
