The Boulder, Colo.-based supply chain software provider will combine its own visibility technology with MacroPoint’s patented freight tracking software, the companies said in a joint statement.
10-4 Systems has entered an agreement with MacroPoint to license the latter’s shipment tracking technology as part of it’s own supply chain visibility offering, according to a joint statement from the companies.
The Boulder, Colo.-based supply chain software provider will combine its visibility technology with MacroPoint’s patented freight tracking software to offer a “best-in-class customer experience for both shippers and carriers,” the companies said.
In addition, the tie-up will allow 10-4 to provide automated alerts for shipments running early, on-time, in jeopardy or late. The companies noted that information in the system is continuously recalculated to ensure customers receive accurate data and are able to share that information across internal teams and departments.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office on Aug. 30, 2016 issued MacroPoint an exclusive patent for monitoring location of freight using mobile devices such as ELDs and cell phones, which it then sells to third parties like freight brokers and shippers, the companies said.
“We are partnering with MacroPoint because of the vast number of freight carriers already connected to its network,” Travis Rhyan, president and chief executive officer of 10-4, said of the agreement. “Our shipper customers now receive instant visibility to all of their carriers and can visualize the data inside of our dashboard and analytics platform.”
“We have received a lot of licensing interest since our latest patent issued,” added MacroPoint chief executive officer Bennett Adelson. “Most companies respect intellectual property rights, and many partners and competitors have been reaching out to us with ideas of how to work together and leverage our invention in new and interesting ways.
“The visualization tools they (10-4) have developed are state of the art and top notch. This deal ensures that end users are now properly licensed and able to continue incorporating our technology into their standard operating procedures for the long term.”
10-4 last week announced it is partnering with Anheuser Busch, brewer of the famed Budweiser beer, among several other brands, to provide the AB InBev subsidiary with real-time tracking of products and raw materials to its production facilities.
