A. P. MOLLER NAMES NEW S-CLASS CONTAINERSHIP

A.P. Moller, the parent company of Maersk Sealand, has named a new “S-class” containership, the Carsten Maersk.

The ship is the latest in a series of large post-Panamax container vessels built by A.P. Moller affiliate Odense Steel Shipyard.

The vessel has a length of 347 meters, a width of 43 meters and a declared capacity of 6,600 TEUs.

The ship will be deployed, from mid-November, in a Europe/Asia/U.S. West Coast/Asia/Europe “pendulum” service operated by Maersk Sealand. The service employs 14 large containerships that are among the largest in the world.
