A.P. Moller subsidiary to stop production of reefers in Denmark
A.P. Moller subsidiary Maersk Container Industri A/S said Thursday that “due to a heavy decline in market prices for reefers and the low U.S. dollar,” it will end production of refrigerated containers at its plant in Tinglev, Denmark.
Production at the Danish plant will end once the current volume of orders has been produced, expected to be by the end of the year.
The Tinglev facility employs 308 people, of which 250 are expected to be made redundant.
The company will continue production of the reefers in Qingdao and Dongguan, China.
