ACCA TO RELEASE REPORT ABOUT U.S. CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT OF USPS
The Air Courier Conference of America said it will release a report today that raises serious questions about U.S. Customs’ enforcement over the Postal Service.
The study, conducted by Wirthlin Worldwide, is expected to detail “huge holes” in Customs inspections and duty assessments of postal shipments, which reportedly result in massive losses in revenue to the federal government.
“In advance of the upcoming congressional hearings on postal and customs practices, participants will discuss the new study and overview how lax Customs enforcement on USPS shipments is harming private-sector shippers, consumers and taxpayers,” ACCA said.
Speakers at the Washington press conference will be Representative Anne Northrup, R-Ky., of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Treasury, Postal Service and General Government; Joe Morris, executive director of ACCA; and Leslie Paige, senior vice president of Citizens Against Government Waste.
