ACL acquires multipurpose ro-ro ship

Atlantic Container Line is acquiring a multipurpose/roll-on/roll-off vessel built in 2000, the “Grande Brasile.”

The “Grande Brasile” was previously managed by Grimaldi, the parent company of ACL. It operates on Grimaldi’s Europe to West Africa service. Once acquired by ACL, the ship will be chartered back to Grimaldi.

Last year, ACL bought a sistership to the “Grande Brasile,” called the “Grande Argentina,” and also chartered it to Grimaldi.

The transatlantic carrier also confirmed that it has re-flagged two of its 3,100-TEU container/roll-on/roll-off ships, the “Atlantic Cartier” and “Atlantic Conveyor,” from the Bahamas to the Swedish flag.

The two ships are operated by ACL on the North Atlantic. The re-flagging of these two vessels has put all of ACL’s five 3,100-TEU “G3 class” container/roll-on/roll-off vessels under the Swedish flag.
