AIR CANADA COMPLETES OUTSOURCING TO UNISYS
Air Canada said it has completed a 21-month process to outsource its cargo information technology applications to Unisys, a provider of technology services and solutions.
The Unisys hosted cargo service, called “LYNX” by Air Canada, provides data identifying the location and movement of cargo down to individual pieces.
Air Canada Cargo pays based on its usage of the system, thus avoiding maintaining a staff and computing facilities.
Claude Morin, vice president of Air Canada Cargo, cited Unisys’ “powerful and evolving cargo system … and an excellent hosting and support service.' The airline expects savings of 15 to 20 percent per year in IT-related costs.
