AIRBORNE EXPRESS IMPLEMENTS LOGISTICS.COMÆS OPTIMANAGE SOLUTION
Logistics.com Inc., the Burlington, Mass.-based transportation procurement and management software provider, said Monday that Airborne Express will implement its OptiManage Capacity Finder to acquire truckload capacity during surge periods.
Logistics.com's software automate Airborne's process of obtaining capacity during surge periods, such as month-end, quarter-end and fourth-quarter holiday period, by identifying shipments which cannot be moved by Airborne's primary transport provider. The software uses a special Web interface to offer the shipment to multiple preferred transport providers. OptiManage Capacity Finder then collects transport providers' responses and determines the best carrier for each shipment, securing capacity at contracted rates.
The capacity finder is part of Logistics.com's OptiManage's Web-based modules that allows shippers to manage and execute day-to-day transport needs.
Airborne provides express delivery throughout the United States and to more than 200 countries.
