AIRBORNE FREIGHT PROMOTES SENIOR EXECUTIVES

   Airborne Freight Corp. has promoted Bob Brazier to vice chairman, Carl Donaway to president and chief operating officer, Lanny Michael to senior vice president and chief financial officer and David Billings to senior vice president and chief information officer.

   Brazier, a 37-year veteran of the company, has served as president and COO since 1978. He joins chairman Bob Cline in a newly formed Office of the Chairman and will continue to lead the sales and marketing division and the logistics services group.

   Donaway, who has been with the company since 1977, was promoted from senior executive vice president, field and air services, to succeed Brazier as president and COO. He reports to the Office of the Chairman and also becomes a director with the company.

   Michael replaces Roy Liljebeck who retired in July.

   Michael and Billings report to Cline.
