Airbus sees demand for 3,800 freighters up to 2026
European aircraft manufacturer Airbus said today that higher demand for air cargo service will create the need for some 3,800 freighter deliveries through 2026.
According to its latest Global Market Forecast, Airbus said that of those freighter deliveries, nearly 900, worth $200 billion, would be new factory built.
The Toulouse, France-based company said air freight, measured in freight ton kilometers (FTKs), is forecast to grow 5.8 percent annually, faster than the expected 4.9 percent average rate for passenger traffic. Airbus foresees a demand up to 2026 for some 24,300 new passenger and freighter aircraft valued at $2.8 trillion.
