AIRNET EXPANDS U.S. GOVERNMENT SHIPPER BUSINESS

The U.S. General Services Administration has awarded an unlimited contract to AirNet Systems to provide domestic express delivery services to federal government agencies.

The contract is valid for five years, with three additional option periods. AirNet will also be authorized to provide its services to government contractors, mixed ownership government corporations, the District of Columbia, and other organizations authorized to use GSA as a source of supply.

GSA approval allows government entities to use private-sector transport services at pre-negotiated rates, promoting the use of “blanket purchase agreements” by government shippers for AirNet’s services.

“We will now begin to aggressively offer our full line of services to the government,” said Joe Biggerstaff, chairman and chief executive officer of AirNet, based Columbus, Ohio.

Prior to its GSA contract, the air courier offered its time-sensitive express services to seven government agencies on a spot market basis.
