Alabama port authority seeks partner for Choctaw Point project

   The Alabama State Port Authority said it is seeking prospective terminal operators and developers for its proposed Choctaw Point container terminal and intermodal complex at the Port of Mobile.

   The authority issued a request for expression of interest for private lease or capital investment in the multi-user intermodal terminal.

   The terminal is in the final stages of its draft environmental impact study, and engineering and construction is expected to begin at the site in January. The authority expects the terminal to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2006.
