ALITALIA TAPS MERCURY FOR CARGO HANDLING
Alitalia, Italy's national airline, has signed a $1.7-million contract with Mercury Air Cargo, a division of aviation services company Mercury Air Group, for cargo handling at Los Angeles International Airport.
The deal, which covers services provided at Mercury's 180,000-square-foot LAX cargo facility, will take effect in September and last two years.
Alitalia joins Cathay Pacific Airways, Japan Airlines, EVA Airways, LanChile and China Southern Airlines as Mercury cargo clients in Los Angeles. Mercury provides cargo handling and general sales agent services to airlines.
