All Nippon Airways orders 767-300 converted freighters
Tokyo-based All Nippon Airways (ANA) has placed firm orders with Boeing for three 767-300 Converted Freighter aircraft, with options for four more.
The airline is the first to sign up to Boeing’s 767-300 conversion program.
ANA said the converted freighters will be delivered between December 2007 and October 2008, and used principally on short- and medium-haul intra-Asian routes, as well as for late night domestic cargo flights.
“It is our intention to make cargo one of ANA’s three main businesses, alongside international and domestic passenger services,” said Mineo Yamamoto, ANA president and chief executive officer.
At the halfway point of its 2005 fiscal year, ANA Group, parent company of ANA, reported a 34 percent drop in net profit to 19.7 billion yen ($169.5 million), from 29.4 billion yen in the first half of fiscal year 2004.
The ANA Group comprises All Nippon Airways, Air Nippon, Air Japan, Air Nippon Network, Air Hokkaido and Air Central.
