AMERICAN AIRLINES CARGO BENEFITS FROM B777 SUMMER FLIGHT SCHEDULE
American Airlines Cargo said its summer 2002 schedule for Boeing 777 flights has ushered the highest ever cargo capacity offered by the carrier to freight forwarders.
“The 777 is a great cargo aircraft,” said Steve Buckerfield, managing director of cargo sales for American in Europe. “By changing our schedules this summer to more 777s and less 767 services, we are increasing available cargo capacity by 5 percent with 9 percent fewer frequencies.”
American’s summer schedule includes 18 B777 flights daily between Europe and the United States, in addition to another 14 B767 flights. Routes served by American’s B777 fleet include London to New York, Chicago, Dallas, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and Raleigh-Durham, N.C. Other flights include Paris to New York and Dallas and Frankfurt to Dallas.
American said that unlike other planes, the payload doesn’t fluctuate for cargo. “The 777 offers consistent minimum of 18 tons cargo capacity per flight, even with a full passenger load,” the airline said.
This summer American will launch its expedited guaranteed service in Europe to increase its B777 payloads.
