AMSTERDAM PORTS TRAFFIC UP BY 3% IN FIRST HALF
The ports of Amsterdam (Amsterdam, Zaanstad, Beverwijk and IJmuiden/Velsen) increased their combined traffic by 3 percent in the first half of this year, to 35.9 million tons, compared to the same period last year.
All cargo categories improved traffic volumes. Liquid bulk rose by 3.6 percent to 8.8 million tons. Dry bulk movement grew by 3.4 percent to 23.6 million tons. General cargo traffic recorded a slight increase of 0.8 percent to reach 3.5 million tons.
Hans Gerson, executive director of the Amsterdam Port Authority, said that the total traffic volume for the full year is expected to exceed 70 million tons of goods.
