ANA plans to raise fuel surcharge

Tokyo-based All Nippon Airways (ANA) today applied to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to raise its fuel surcharge on international cargo to 48 yen (41 cents) per kilogram from 42 yen (36 cents), effective Dec. 16.

ANA said the proposed raise comes in response to the continued high price of Singapore kerosene.

“While regrettable, the raise is unfortunately inevitable, in order to maintain and improve levels of quality and service,” said Mineo Yamamoto, ANA president and chief executive officer. “We once again ask our customers for their cooperation and understanding in these times of unprecedented fuel prices.'
