Antwerp passes 6 million TEUs for first time
Container traffic at the port of Antwerp increased 11.4 percent in 2004, as the port handled 6 million TEUs for the first time in its history.
Non-containerized general cargo volume topped 21 million tons in 2004, an increase of more than 4 percent. The port handled a record 152.3 million tons of cargo in 2004, a 6.6 percent increase, nearly 10 million tons more than in the previous record year of 2003.
