ANZDL ADDS AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND/U.S. EAST COAST LINK
Australia-New Zealand Direct Line, a subsidiary of CP Ships, will introduce a direct Australia/New Zealand/U.S. East Coast service in November.
The service, starting on Nov. 17, 2002 in Fremantle, Australia, is operated as part of a vessel-sharing agreement with P&O Nedlloyd, Contship Containerlines and other carriers.
It will call weekly at Fremantle; Melbourne; Sydney; Auckland; Napier, New Zealand; Port Chalmers, New Zealand; Manzanillo, Panama; Savannah; Philadelphia; and New York.
Some of the vessels supporting the new ANZDL/Contship service are part of CP Ships' $800 million ship replacement program. New 4,100-TEU vessels will be equipped with 1,300 reefer plugs.
'ANZDL moves a large amount of beef, lamb, mutton, fish, dairy products, and produce from Australia and New Zealand to North America,' a spokesman for the carrier said.
