ANZDL ADDS SOUTH AMERICA/AUSTRALIA TRANSSHIPMENT LINK

Australia-New Zealand Direct Line is expanding into the South American market by starting a fortnightly transshipment service from Peru and Chile to Australasia.

The new service will operate southbound to Australasia, offering transit times of 35 days from Callao, Peru, to Auckland and 40 days from Callao to Melbourne.

ANZDL said that it is taking advantage of its relationship with CP Ships’ sister company, Americana Ships, which runs Latin American services. Americana Ships will load cargo at the ports of Callao in Peru and San Antonio in Chile and then call the port of Manzanillo, Mexico, where the cargo will be transloaded onto one of ANZDL’s Australasian-bound vessels.

ANZDL said that there are a variety of commodities that move in the trade, including dry fish meal, machinery, timber, wine, chemicals and fertilizer. ANZDL will be represented in Chile by Multimar S.A. and in Peru by Navinter Navieras Intermares S.A.

The carrier is planning to introduce a northbound service from Australia to South America soon.

ANZDL is part of the CP Ships group, which includes Canada Maritime, Cast, Contship Containerlines, ANZDL, Americana Ships and Montreal Gateway Terminals. Americana Ships includes Lykes Lines and TMM Lines.
