ANZDL PROVIDES TRACKING INFORMATION VIA E-MAIL

Australia-New Zealand Direct Line said Thursday it has introduced a new electronic service which forwards customers daily container status reports via e-mail.

The service, called Notify Me, allows shippers to select a tracing option based on the type of information they or their customers require. Shippers need only enter ANZDL's Web site once to set up their personal preferences, then receive a status report once a day for containers reaching a specific move.

ANZDL said Notify Me is an extension of the carriers automated e-mail notification system.

“Many carriers are still focused on getting customers to access their Web sites,” said Frank Lavarini, ANZDL's vice president of information services. The new service saves shippers time “by doing away with the need to access our Web site to track their cargo.”

ANZDL, a unit of CP Ships, provides fixed-day weekly service between North America and Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
