APHIS EXCLUDES BORDER PORTS FROM HANDLING ANIMAL IMPORTS
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has finalized its rule to exclude the Canadian border ports of Blaine and Lynden, Wash., from handling animal imports.
Effective Jan. 7, these two Washington state land-border ports will no longer handle imports of certain animals, birds, poultry, and animal germ plasma for the United States.
“We did not receive any written adverse comments or written notice of intent to submit adverse comments in response to the direct final rule,” APHIS said. The agency published its intent to finalize the rule on Nov. 8.
