APHIS ORDERS TB TESTING FOR MANITOBA CATTLE
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service will require tuberculosis testing for breeding cattle and bison from Manitoba, Canada, starting Aug. 17.
The agency said it has found TB in cattle from this Canadian province. “Previously Canada was allowed to attest on export health certifications that cattle and bison originate from a TB-free herd,” APHIS said. “That statement is no longer valid for Manitoba.”
The United States has a TB eradication program in place in California, Michigan and Texas.
