APL EXECUTIVES LEAD CHINA DELEGATION
Executives from APL are meeting this week with Chinese businesses and government officials to discuss .
APL executives on the delegation include Flemming R. Jacobs, chief executive officer and president; Dick Metzler, CEO of APL Logistics; Dan McHugh, president of APL's Asia region; and Ming Chen Hsu, senior advisor to the NOL Group, parent company of APL.
“Ready access to ports and other networks throughout China is clearly vital to meeting our customers' needs,” Jacobs said. “We will discuss ways of improving such access with businesses and with government officials.”
APL said it is establishing a documentation center in Shanghai which will be staffed by 120 people, and has placed an order for more than 34,000 new containers from China International Marine Containers.
The company is also adding a Chinese language facility to its Homeport Web site.
