The CMA CGM subsidiary will use space on an existing loop between Asia, Mexico and the West Coast of South America, effective April 6.
Ocean carrier APL, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, will be joining a service between Asia, Mexico and the West Coast of South America.
The Quetzal Express (QEX), which APL will call the service, will use space on the existing WSA2/ASA/WS2 service, a spokesperson said.
APL will join with the April 6 sailing from Kaohsiung.
The service has a rotation of Kaohsiung, Shekou, Hong Kong, Ningbo, Shanghai, Manzanillo (Mexico), Lazaro Cardenas, Puerto Quetzal, Buenaventura, Guayaquil, Callao, Manzanillo (Mexico), Busan and Kaohsiung.
BlueWater Reporting shows the loop is currently operated by Wan Hai, PIL, Evergreen Line, COSCO and Yang Ming, deploying 10 vessels averaging 4,598 TEUs.
The “QEX service promises the industry’s fastest transit time of 22 days from South China to Mexico,” APL said. “It is also the only service that offers a direct connection from Taiwan, Central and South China to Puerto, Quetzal and Guayaquil.”
