APL LEAVES YEMENI PORT HUB AS WAR RISK COSTS RISE

APL is switching two weekly liner services from the port of Aden, in Yemen, to the neighboring Middle East hub port of Salalah, in Oman.

The temporary move away from the Yemeni port is “a result of increased costs associated with extra insurance premiums,” APL said.

APL has two deepsea services calling at Aden — the Asia/Red Sea/Indian subcontinent “Red Sea Express” and the Asia/Europe “China Europe Express.”

APL said that it will continue to operate feeder and intra-Asia services to Aden.
