APL terminal bomb threat a hoax

APL terminal bomb threat a hoax

A bomb threat called into the APL terminal in the Port of Los Angeles early Monday morning was deemed to be a hoax by the U.S. Coast Guard, according to a report from the Marine Exchange of Southern California.

Shortly after midnight, an unknown person called into the Global Gateway South terminal, which is operated by APL and Eagle Marine, claiming that a bomb would go off “in about three hours.”

According to the Marine Exchange, one ship had just left berth there and was departing for sea and the Coast Guard ordered her to anchor instead. There were two remaining vessels still at their berths at the terminal (Pier 300) as of early Monday morning.

Shortly after 3 a.m., investigators gave the “all clear” for the terminal to resume operations both landside and waterside.
