APM Terminals: Cranes æRÆ Us
APMT's Crane & Engineering Services unit offers its crane expertise. |
APM Terminals said it is selling its expertise in cargo cranes to companies outside the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group.
The company’s Crane & Engineering Services (CES) unit will offer port authorities and container terminal operators expertise and project management skills in the design, procurement and installation of cranes and other heavy terminal equipment.
The CES unit was founded as a separate business unit with APM Terminals in February 2009. The 25-person team operates out of Shanghai, where an office was opened in 2006 to coordinate business and engineering initiatives with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC), the world’s largest manufacturer of port cranes. CES also maintains offices in Germany and The Netherlands.
Over the past five years CES has overseen the purchase and installation of 139 ship to shore cranes including the largest with a 22-container reach, 268 rubber tire gantry cranes, and rail-mounted gantry cranes worldwide.
