APPLIED MATERIALS PICKS RYDER TO MANAGE TEXAS FACILITY

   Applied Materials Inc., a supplier of products and services to the semiconductor industry, has contracted with Ryder System Inc., a Miami-based logistics services provider, to manage a 288,000-square-foot parts staging facility in Austin, Texas.

   “Ryder has enabled us to improve cycle times on critical time-sensitive parts,” said Joseph R. Bronson, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Applied Materials.

Ryder’s responsibilities include coordination and pick-up of components from suppliers, and delivering cleanroom-certified products directly into the airlock of Applied Materials’ cleanroom manufacturing facilities.
