Aranoff sworn in as ITC commissioner

Shara L. Aranoff was sworn in Tuesday as a commissioner of the U.S. International Trade Commission.

She was confirmed by the Senate on July 29, for the term expiring on Dec. 16, 2012.

Prior to this appointment, Aranoff was senior international trade counsel on the Democratic staff of the Senate Finance Committee, where she was responsible for legislative and policy issues on international trade and investment.

The ITC is an independent, fact-finding federal agency that provides trade expertise to both the legislative and executive branches of the U.S. government; determines the impact of imports of U.S. industries; and directs actions against certain unfair trade practices, such as patent, trademark and copyright infringement.
