Argix Direct scanning technology reduces retail misdeliveries
Retail logistics services provider Argix Direct has implemented a new scanner technology that it says helps minimize misdeliveries.
The technology, SmartScan, uses scanners to match pre-loaded bill of lading information with actual delivery information to ensure accurate deliveries.
“This matching process minimizes the occurrence of short shipments and misdeliveries at the retail store,” the company said in a statement. “In the event there are overages or shortages, these can be identified by carton number and noted on the delivery bill by receivers at the point of delivery.”
The company said most misdeliveries are caused by cartons being left on delivery vehicles, or by drivers selecting the wrong cartons. “SmartScan eliminates this problem by cross-referencing what was supposed to be delivered with what actually occurred,” Argix Direct said.
The company said SmartScan also helps to eliminate invoicing discrepancies.
Jamesburg, N.Y.-based Argix Direct, formerly the LTA Group, arranges the delivery of merchandise to more than 5,000 retail stores around the United States each week.
