Asia/southern Africa carriers raise rates
Shipping lines of the Japan and Hong Kong/South Africa Shipping Conference have announced two rate increases scheduled for 2004.
The increases will be $400 per TEU, effective April 1, 2004, and $200 per TEU, effective July 1.
“Freight rates have been eroding since 2001,” the conference said.
The Japan and Hong Kong/South Africa Shipping Conference carriers are Maersk Sealand, “K” Line, Malaysia International Shipping Corp., MOL, NYK Line, P&O Nedlloyd, Compania Sud Americana de Vapores and Safmarine Container Lines.
